SMTP Configuration Object - Authentication Failed

Summary

With adding the parameters „username“ and „password“ as an additional information to the SMTP configuration object, Fabasoft Folio tries to authenticate with the SMTP server. If the SMTP server only allows basic authentication without encryption, Fabasoft Folio sends an AUTH PLAIN, which is not implemented in most SMTP servers.

Solution

To ensure security, configure the SMTP server to accept only allowed IP addresses. Allow the IP addresses of the Fabasoft Folio web server and so clients who are not valid, cannot send emails via this SMTP server.
