Microsoft Internet Information Services 7 and newer offer the ability to use a module in kernel mode for authenticating user requests. This setting is enabled by default and offers normal web services quicker authentication for requests and gives administrators the ability to manage application pool credentials more precisely.

Unfortunately Kernel Mode Authentication is not compatible with Fabasoft Folio and Fabasoft eGov-Suite services. The reason for this is that the authentication tokens of a request, that are needed to correctly identify and authenticate the user in the Fabasoft Folio or Fabasoft eGov-Suite domain context, are not available when using Kernel Mode Authentication, which may lead to problems when trying to login via the web client or opening documents via the Fabasoft Folio Client.

RecommendationPermanent link for this heading

It is therefore recommended to disable Kernel Mode Authentication for all Fabasoft Folio/Fabasoft eGov-Suite web-, conversion and e-services, to ensure that users do not experience problems when trying to log-in. Fabasoft Folio/Fabasoft eGov-Suite 2014 and newer disable Kernel Mode Authentication by default via the web.config file, it should therefore not be necessary to change any settings unless Kernel Mode Authentication has been enabled manually.
