Enable Conversion with Microsoft Word Fill-In FieldsPermanent link for this heading

Last update: 4 August 2017

Summary

When converting Microsoft Word documents containing Fill-In Fields using Microsoft Word as conversion tool, the conversion does not succeed and is terminated due to a timeout.
The reason for this behaviour is as in the process of saving (converting) the document as PDF each Fill-In Field triggers a dialogue box asking for user input.
Basically it would be possible to deactive the "update fields before printing" feature in Microsoft Word, unfortunately the DocProperty functionality would be disabled as well.
Therefore an additional conversion setting via Windows registry was created, allowing to disable Microsoft Word Fill-In Fields only.

Disabling Fill-In Fields during the conversion triggers a check of all existing fields in the document and convertig the latest content of Fill-In Fields to plain text.
Therefore you might experience a negative peformance impact during conversion.
