IIS - The module fscvext.dll failed to load. The data is in the error

This behavior may occur, if you revert your web- or conversion server to an erlier version of Fabasoft Folio.

fscvext.dll is the ISAPI module responsible to redirect web request to the Fabasoft Kernel.

Fabasoft registers it's ISAPI module fscvext.dll in IIS. If the uninstallation misses removing the modules entries, it may fail to start an older version of Fabasoft Folio.

Solution

Uninstall Fabasoft Folio web- and conversion services

Please uninstall the Fabasoft Folio web- and conversion services on that server.

Clean up IIS configuration

After the uninstallation, please consult the following files, searching for entries with fscvext:

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\config\ApplicationHost.config
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config

Remove all extries referring to fscvext.dll. Keep the XML configuration well-formed, therefore care for the correct tags.

Notepad++: If you are using Notepad++, please install the 64-bit version as the 32-bit version will open the wrong IIS configuration file.

Clean up registry

Additionally, clean up the Windows Registry:

HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Fabasoft\Web

Remove the entire registry hive.

Clean up file system

C:\Program Files\Fabasoft\Components\Web

Delete the entire directory
